So I see this “3 days until Valentine’s Day” on your site. Clearly Valentines Day is a big deal in your household. So, what do you have planned Mr. Romaticpants?

Actually, what you are seeing is my continuing attempt to find something interesting to put in the countdown block. I recently thought of something better than Valentine’s Day.
We are old, married people with kids, so we don’t make big plans for Valentine’s Day. However, this year we are going to go to an early dinner on The Plaza on Saturday — without any kids. I think we both are eagerly looking forward to that.

Oh, no sir. Technology is not appropriate for Valentines day. I learned that one the hard way. Aprons are right out too no matter how red or how sweet the inscription.
This year Ellen dashed away at the last minute to help her folks. Flowers were the best I could do. Oh, and some for her mom also because it seemed like the menschy thing. (Ordinarily it would be hard for me to get behind commercial flowers for the ugly ecological impact, but these folks were recommended by the Nature Conservancy so I choose to believe that I haven’t done bad. I also choose the skip the research that might prove me wrong.)
The more preplanned stuff will have to wait for her return, but I’m not exactly sure when that will be. Too many imponderables.
